Itemized quotes and a workmanship warranty, with no fine print.

Benches, orchards and aging walls

Summerland is built on benches and old orchard land, so plenty of properties have grade changes between the house, the yard and the neighbours. Around Trout Creek, Prairie Valley and the slopes near Giant’s Head, it’s common to find older timber or rock walls that were never built with drainage in mind.

Those walls lean, rot and bulge over time. When we replace one, we start from the ground up with new excavation, a compacted base and real drainage, so you’re not doing it all again in ten years.

FAQ

Summerland retaining wall FAQ

Thinking about replacing an old wall or levelling a slope? These come up a lot.

If a wall is only slightly out of line, a repair can work. Rotting timbers, bulging or a wall that keeps moving usually means full replacement is the smarter spend.

Yes. Tear-out and disposal can be built right into your quote, so one crew handles everything.

Most homeowners go with Allan Block or poured concrete for a much longer lifespan. If you love the look of wood, we can rebuild in timber, this time with proper drainage.

Smaller walls usually aren’t an issue, but taller walls and walls near property lines may need approval. We’ll let you know before anything is ordered.

Yes. Terracing a gentle slope into flat levels is a great way to add lawn, garden or patio space.

Tear-out usually adds a day or two. The new wall then takes anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks depending on its size.
